Geneva laid on her bed in the dark. Tears ran down her face and she couldn’t stop them. Her leg had stopped throbbing earlier but now laying in the darkness, she realized it was her heart giving her the most pain.

Five years ago when she woke up on that plane, she’d felt broken, almost like Pride was dead to her and for a while... he had been, but the fact that she couldn’t forget him was the one thing she held onto while she was living the lie her uncle held dear.

Then it was the promise of Pride that helped her break through the lies. One morning, she woke up and could feel his lips on hers, she could remember his scent so clear and the way it felt to be in his arms...then she knew what she had to do. She had to tell Elaina’s grandfather the truth.

She didn’t know what he might do with her after he knew the truth and it didn’t matter to her. At least, she’d done what she knew was right. Not only that but she sent a message to her uncle that she was done with him and his lies.

Elaina’s grandfather had told her to call him if she ever found herself in trouble but she knew she would never make that call. She had caused him enough pain. But everywhere she went for the next year, she was found and had to run again. It was only when she returned through the underground that she felt she could breathe free again.

Then she managed to find Pride again. She had been watching him now for almost year. Just seeing him gave her life, gave her hope. She knew he didn’t have a woman or a family. Not that it meant she would ever have a chance at that again, with him.

The door to the Infirmary opened and she stayed silent as Pride come toward her. When he looked down at her, she looked into his eyes. Something in his eyes made her shiver.

Need and desire warred with his common sense. He didn’t say a word and neither did she, instead he leaned over her and gathered her in his arms. He lifted her carefully, aware of her leg, then turned and carried her out of the room, down the hall to his room. He shut the door quietly and carried her over to his bed.

He laid her down and laid next to her.

Still without a word, he leaned over her and his mouth crushed hers.

Geneva groaned and opened her mouth to his. The years slipped away and they were both caught up in the maelstrom of the past. The kiss went on as their breathing sped up. Hands all over each other as the passion grew high.

They found themselves skin to skin with no recollection of how they got that way.

Then Pride was surging inside her and she opened her mouth in a silent scream of pleasure. He covered her mouth with his as he pushed inside her, each stroke going deeper and harder.
